Majorca’s Palma airport is already welcoming the first tourists who have come to the island to enjoy a few days of relaxation and disconnection in the Mediterranean paradise. From the moment they step off the plane into the terminal buildings, they will start to notice the new normality.
Some health procedures have been implemented in the airport, which all passengers must adhere to. These include taking temperatures, maintaining social distancing and declaring who they have been in contact with and where they have been.
We know that it is necessary to take precautions and that the situation that we are living through is new and strange for everyone. For this reason, now more than ever, we must realise how important and necessary it is to enjoy this summer, while respecting and remembering the safety protocols and measures at all times.
To allow you to enjoy your holiday, we suggest that you hire a car and take a trip to see some of the island’s most breath-taking views: a route along the Western coast of Majorca. You can start the route from the Hotel Son Caliu Spa Oasis and drive towards our first destination: Santa Ponça. Here you will find the first stop with views of the route, the Illes Malgrats observation point. It is easy to access and you can also park the car very close to the path that will take you to the observation point.
We will then continue the route towards San Telmo, a small district belonging to the Province of Andratx. Did you know that this place was one of the main entry points for pirate invasions in Majorca? Nowadays, this old fishing village has become an important tourist hub, receiving millions of visitors every year.
Among all of Majorca’s attractions, la Serra de Tramuntana is, without a doubt, one of the most magical places of the Balearic Island. This sierra has been declared as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in the Cultural Landscape category. Its contrast between stone villages and turquoise waters make this spot an unforgettable place.
From now on, our route along the West coast of the island is full of villages with views that could have come from a painting: Estellencs, Banyalbufar, Valldemossa, Deià, Sòller, Fornalutx, Sa Calobra and Pollença. This is a route that you must do when visiting Majorca, to discover some of the most enchanting parts of the island.
Valldemossa is one of the most fundamental and famous provinces in Majorca. We recommend that you immerse yourself in its narrow streets and visit a cafe to try its typical and well-known potato pastry, with an almond slush to drink. You are bound to love it!
Another must-see charming village is Deià. Before arriving in the province, you will find the Sa Foradada observation point. It is worth taking a break from the route to visit this beautiful cliff and to see the impressive views of the sea. During your visit to the next village, Sòller, bear in mind that you must spend some time not only in the port, but also in the centre of the province. Here you will discover a modernist architectural legend which is worth seeing.
Enjoy this route, which will offer you a lot in very few kilometres. It is worth taking time to discover each village and to take advantage of this part of the island, so that you can immerse yourself in its history, tasty gastronomy and enchanting beaches and bays. From the Hotel Son Caliu Spa Oasis, we wish you a fantastic holiday and hope that you enjoy a few well-deserved days of relaxation.
