Carnival starts in Mallorca

Carnival starts in Mallorca

June. Tuesday 18, 2019

At the Hotel Son Caliu Spa Oasis we are making complete reforms of our facilities, but we do not want to forget about the activities and events that are celebrated in Mallorca and specially in the area of Calvià.

At the end of February the island of Mallorca is characterized by holidays, fun, color and costumes of all kinds. Carnivals are held all over the island that mark the end of the fasting period on the way to the preparation of Eastern.

The concerts, dances and parades of disguised comparsas are the protagonists in these dates of joy and fun. The most popular parades are those of 'Sa Rau' and 'Sa Rueta' (for the little ones) in Palma de Mallorca that are celebrated Sunday 26 of February.

The parade will visit the Rambla, the Riera, the carrer Unió , the Plaça del Rei Joan Carles and the Avinguda de Jaume III.

In addition to Palma, the Carnival is celebrated in Alcúdia, Andratx, Calvià, Capdepera, Costitx, Esporles, Mancor de la Vall, Muro, Porreres, Puigpunyent, Sant Joan, Son Carrió (Sant Llorenç des Cardassar), Sóller and Valldemossa.

On Sunday, February 19, Carnival celebrations in Mallorca begin with the two traditional floats of the municipality of Marratxí. In the morning, the children celebrate their particular 'Rueta' and in the afternoon everyone is invited to the Sa Rua.

In Calvià is also celebrated 'Sa Rua' carnival and it is considered the most important act in these dates of color and joy.

The event takes place on the Saturday before Ash Wednesday and consists of a colorful parade where people of all ages are disguised, whether individually or in pairs, in groups, or with floats. This year it will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017.

The concentration takes place in the school of Ses Quarterades of Calvià, from where all the participants leave to parade through the most central streets of Calvià: Carrer Major, Avinguda de Palma, Carrer Julià Bujosa Sans, Batle until arriving the parking of the Ajuntament, with a party with bbq, music and dancing.

At Sa Rua de Calvià, citizens of all ages, both residents and non-residents of Calvià can participate.

From Hotel Son Caliu Spa Oasis we want to offer you the best offers so you can enjoy an unforgettable and unique holiday.

We will continue to inform you about the opening of the new season!
